LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Attendance at this year's Kentucky State Fair was the lowest in decades.
The fair drew just over 515,000 visitors. That's a 16% decrease from last year, and the lowest attendance since 1984.
The Kentucky State Fair Board blames the weather, saying the 11-day event was marked by 100-degree heat indices and a rain-soaked final weekend.
Still, officials say the fair continues to be one of the most popular events in the state. There was an increase in entries in the Blue Ribbon competitions and the World's Championship Horse Show.
