LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A month long commuting headache is ending.
Crews from Walsh Construction are re-opening the Second Street Bridge for Friday morning's commute, a week earlier than planned. Officials say good weather and quick work by crews demolishing the old approach made it easy to beat the deadline.
Drivers going north will be diverted to Court Avenue and will follow a detour to I-65 North while drivers going south will exit as they did before and will follow a newly aligned U.S 31 South.
The sidewalks on the bridge are not yet done and Walsh crews are asking walkers and cyclist to use the Big Four Bridge until they are completed.
